Life as a florist.

Now everyone always speculates how fun it must be to be in my line of work.... and don't get me wrong I love what I do very much, however it is not all fun and games as people think.

I've been doing floral for 4 years now and I worked my way from the bottom of the ladder, which is not a fun place to be, though working your way up the ladder does feel good.

When I started all I did was cleaning up (sweeping floors, taking put garbage, washing vases, wiping counters) after messy designers who think because they're designers they don't have to pull there own weight, and my first Valentines Day I ended up working 14 hour days for a week and I was horribly sick from burnout। You could choose not to work it, but usually that results in cut hours or dismissal from the shop as no shop can do without every staff member on February 14th!

Well I'm off to play with flowers now.

Crystal is the freshest and most frequently scheduled designer at our shop, she has an excellent work ethic, enthusiasm, and most importantly, a beautifu
l eye for design. I have assigned her the duty of writing in our casual everyday blog, a chronicle of sorts to give insight into our day to day activities.

Change is good, and inevitable!

Hello, my name is Crystal and I work at Pollination Floral in Vancouver.

I finished my Floral Design certificate in Toronto at the end of April and moved out here to Vancouver, and officially started working here in June.

In the time I have been here I have seen many changes to the store... all for the better, don't worry!

BEFORE

Jennifer and I actually renovated the store ourselves, under the direction of ALEX of FLUR in Edmonton.
May I say it looks amazing?

I truly care about the upkeep and the quality of product we send out... even more then I normally do because I spent so much time helping to transform this store into what Jennifer (the owner, pictured here) had envisioned for the place.

Well, I'm off to play with flowers now.
